I started Wandering Aloud almost two years ago for many of the same reasons I have returned now. Put simply, learning, reading, and writing are what fulfill me. Especially now that I’ve caught up on all the episodes of Bob’s Burgers.
When I first started blogging, I found none of these things in my work – I had a degree but was barely getting by in a string of jobs that didn’t satisfy me. On the bright side, I honed my ability to make a killer cappuccino in three countries.
There is nothing I regret about the several years between college and starting my first “real” job (I have business cards now, so it’s official). In between the unsatisfying but paying jobs, I interned in elephant and dolphin training, lived in five US states, took in the feline love of my life, and started forging the path I want to follow from here on out.
That is certainly not to say I know where I’m going or how I’m getting there – far from it! Rather, I know one of the most important things I need to do to end up feeling fulfilled and balanced is to keep writing. And to do that I need to keep learning.
That’s why I’m here. I want to learn from you, I want to share with you, and I want to keep on keepin’ on, no matter how strange this trip gets.
