The following verses are not very lyrical, but at least they rhyme.
Obama says metadata collection is here to stay,
Even though his advisory panel said that it’s not okay.
You know what else isn’t new today?
Our software can still be hacked by the NSA.
In Midwestern plants, explosions abound,
Leaving four dead and more injured from being around.
West Virgina survived that chemical spill
But their own tap water is still making them ill.
While Utah appeals a Supreme Court decision,
Gay couples sue for recognition.
A Pennsylvania judge has blocked, yet again,
A voter ID law, to Governor Corbett’s chagrin.
America saw our fourth school shooting this week,
With one dead at Purdue, our students’ futures look bleak.
Chris Christie is still under political fire
As we learn all about what he allowed to transpire.
From traffic to threats, the situation is dire,
And his governance leaves us with much to desire.
The cold and the snow have hit the East Coast
While the Southwestern states continue to roast.
In the meantime in Bangkok,
A state of emergency was called by Prime Minister Yingluck.
As the government there tries to get its protesters on lock,
Three were killed in Ukraine, which was quite a shock.
And just when Iran thought the US could be a friend,
We had its peace conference invitation revoked by the UN.
There Kerry insists Assad’s rule must end,
And Syria’s ambassador says the regime will not bend.
Try not to despair about the state of our times,
As bad news sounds better when everything rhymes!
